I don’t blame Kaori for screaming. If I saw a beast like that, I’d piss my pants too.
My head’s spinning right now, mainly because I was confused as hell by Air’s storyline and overwhelmed by Akira. I did enjoy Air, although the story was rather… deserving of a WTF? Akira, on the other hand, was completely amazing, blowing me away despite the film’s age.
On the non-epic anime side of things, I finished Welcome to the N.H.K. and watched more of Fullmetal Alchemist. Oh, and I don’t believe I mentioned it earlier, but Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai 22 was intense, all thanks to Akasaka’s pwnage and Rika’s wish for bigger breasts.
First we’ll start off with Air. I managed to get past the Kanna-sama arc which surprisingly enough, I finally liked. Although it seemed rather drawn out despite only being a couple of episodes, it explained the origin of Yukito’s power and the backstory of the girl with wings.

Why must you die when I finally begin liking you?
The rest of the story is pretty touching besides the initial feeling of Haruko being out of character. Once I got past it, I was ready to cry when Misuzu was about to be taken away by her real father. Haruko’s love and determination for Misuzu really hit me, and I wanted her to live. Haruko’s sudden personality change and final speech at the end (which is somewhat understandable for a person that experiences a loss or significant event) kind of threw me off; I felt it was kind of unrealistic (realism in an anime? -_-) and unnatural.

What the heck is this? Last thing I would expect Haruko to do.
Akira is something I won’t talk a lot about; I don’t feel I can accurately describe the viewing experience. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not in my top 20 movies of all time. But I can understand the impact it made back in 1988 and why many give it critical acclaim. I did feel somewhat bored during the beginning, but the movie started to become quite interesting with Tetsuo’s first show of power. I’ll definitely rewatch it another day to better understand the story and some of its themes.
Since I didn’t go to church today (stomach and back pains in the morning FTL), I watched the remainder of Welcome to the N.H.K. I could definitely relate to the MLM scheme that Satou got himself in (my mom was part of such a group before, but she quit because it was exhausting, rather than it being a fraud if I’m not mistaken).

Wasn’t he much fatter before?
Megumi’s brother’s recovery was a good uplift; it showed that hikikomori can be “cured.” Although it seems rather drastic, maybe the removal of a hikikomori’s living space or food is really what will force them to reenter the outside world. Then again, it can always backfire. I haven’t really thought about the issue, but it is a problem that should be tackled immediately.
The explanations of Yamazaki and Misaki-chan’s backgrounds were much needed, finally allowing me some insight into their past. Although Yamazaki’s past was hinted at by a previous phone conversation, his family’s farm life seemed rather random, but it wasn’t a bad thing. Something I should have picked up before was Misaki’s past, strongly presented by her reaction to Satou’s fists and anger on the island. Satou’s landlord’s explanation made me do a big “OHHHHHHHH” and made me empathize with her behavior and feelings.

Why would you be such a jerk to cute Nanako? =( Baka
The ending to Welcome to the N.H.K. was fitting and satisfying. Nothing more can be said (at least by me).
Not much to say about Fullmetal Alchemist except Ed’s question to Al was TOTALLY obvious and Hughes’s daughter-flaunting is actually… getting on my nerves! Although I chuckled at Hughes and Winry’s first encounter, the joke is somewhat getting old and I hope it doesn’t appear as much (but I doubt that). But seriously, I’m getting sick of Elyisa.

Just like the image says.
Oh, and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai… it was freaking awesome. WHO KNEW AKASAKA CAN PROVIDE SO MUCH ASS-KICKING?
EXCUSE ME FOR THE POOR QUALITY OF THE FOLLOWING SCREENSHOTS. I watched this episode on Crunchyroll and got the screencaps from the stream too.

You’re very useful, Tomitake.

Something I wondered about is… why does Takano wear that?

That’s understandable, Rika.

Lolz wut?

The Sonozakis have high security for a place that they don’t use anymore >_>

I like how Shion conveniently knows how to use an AK >_>

The beginning of Akasaka’s epic pwnage.

Victim number two.

Victim number three.

When will he stop?!

That’s another one on the ground BTW, and now this Yamainu dumbass thinks he can take on Akasaka.

Obviously, he’s no match for Akasaka.

His look says it all. Akasaka = epic win.
Hmm, lastly, I added an Anime Collection page that shows what anime DVDs I own and that I wish to own. Unfortunately… I don’t own any right now T_T
Austin is bugging me to watch Hunter x Hunter, but I’ll save it for last since he’s being annoying about it =P
