02.17.2008 - Thoughts on Okawari, FMA & Myself ; Yourself, etc. - Myself ; Yourself - 1

My drive is back, and I’m back to watching six (I can’t handle more than that) shows at once. They are Clannad, Fullmetal Alchemist, Minami-ke: Okawari, Myself ; Yourself, Shakugan no Shana and Strawberry Panic. I’ll talk about a bit of each and then close with some completely unrelated questions concerning sleep paralysis.

Ah, Clannad, how do you mock me so with your brilliant episodes and animation and wonderful story overall, yet you crush my two preferred ships in one swift knockout. Seeing Kyou in tears and Tomoyo accepting Tomoya’s choice almost left me crying too. This was perhaps THE best episode Kyoto Animation has produced thus far, and Roxas does a wonderful job of analyzing and detailing what I think is the best KyoAni scene ever. I’m still bitter, however, at the fact that Tomoyo was rejected.

Fullmetal Alchemist is back on my watch list, with one episode viewed yesterday (episode 33). Because I hadn’t watched FMA in a few months, I had to backtrack and rewatch episodes 31-32 to refresh my mind and understand where I was in the story. I won’t go into detail; it was pretty action-filled and hooked me in again.

Minami-ke: Okawari maintains the lulz of the first series, although to a slightly lesser extent. My largest gripe is indeed the animation styler change; I’m far too familiar with Daume’s adaptation to be able to fully appreciate and accept these new renditions of the Minami sisters. Asread still does a good job, although I don’t know what’s up with Haruka’s boobs, which have increased by over 9000. Kana’s breasts are also noticeably larger, much to my dismay; at least Chiaki didn’t get the upgrade.

I noticed Myself ; Yourself simply waiting for me on my hard drive, so I decided to start it and I’m glad I did. The show has nothing to particularly praise about, but I realllllllllllllly like it (except Nanaka isn’t that hawt as Sana thinks), especially because of Aoi and Hinako :D Anyway, expect a full review later.

I haven’t really watched Shakugan no Shana and Strawberry Panic in a few days, so I won’t really say much besides Shana and Nagisa = win.

  1. … D: You went months without watching FMA?!?! How can you do that?!

Anyway, about the sleep paralysis thing… I got something similar, but I don’t remember it too well. I just remember it happened about 5 in the morning and I ended up covered in cold sweat. Yucky desu.

  2. lol I’m watching 11 CURRENTLY RUNNING series atm.

FMA is a classic. Go finish it.
See? I thought others would agree on Okawari. It’s just not as fun.
