Looking for two writers

I want Minimum Tempo to expand beyond just my personal thoughts. I would like the blog to be an outlet for a collective of individuals with different tastes and opinions, thus enabling a variety of content. Given this blog’s infancy and lack of firm foundation, I don’t expect replies, but it doesn’t hurt to ask, right?

Currently I want two writers that are willing to write at least five two posts a week. The subjects of posts must fit under “Anime & Manga,” “Culture & Politics,” “Film & Music,” or “Gaming & Tech.” It is highly preferable that the majority of the posts concern anime, manga, J-pop, seiyuus, games, or Japan culture.

Qualifications? As long as you can write well and I can get along with you, you’re qualified. A basic level of skill using Paint, Paint.NET, Photoshop, or some other image editing program is preferable (simply to crop and resize photos).

Benefits? Heh, writing experience? Don’t expect anything other than that.

On a miscellaneous note, the GameStop where I was headed to for the Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament did not notify mall security of their late night hours for the tournament and their midnight launch. Unfortunately, the store had to cancel its midnight launch (good thing I pre-ordered from a different GameStop) and postpone its tournament. My friend and I were pissed, and the time of the tournament tomorrow interferes with our church’s service (it’s the 2nd anniversary too), so we don’t know what we’re going to do. Sigh.

EDIT (03.10.08): I have lowered the post requirement to at least two instead of at least five.

  1. “… at least five posts a week…” !?

    O_O j i i ~ i i i ~ i i i ~…

  2. What… that’s like, one a day, excluding weekends. Since they can just be news posts, it’s not much =P

  3. lol. KOTAKU + COPY + PASTE + COMMENTARY?

If I were still a hardcore gamer/computer geek I’d gladly contribute a few stories. Sadly, not only has my writing gone to hell. And so have many other skills I’ve once had. But if it makes you feel any better, I’m a near-expert when it comes to Sims 2 stuff! My opinion is top quality and I’m pretty much always simmed out.

Oh, and runescape. And the old classics like Age of Empires and Duke Nukem

    I forgot to mention

I’m an expert on anything lesbian

Lesbian pop culture, lesbian movies, lesbian tv shows, lesbian comics and lesbian sex!

  6. 5 times a week is a LOT to ask for an unpaid writer. If they are ready for that kind of load… they probably have their own blog. You’re more likely to get 1-2 posts a week from a new blogger, at least at first. Typically people who join a group don’t have quite enough material for their own blog, but want to be part of a team.

  7. The reason I ask for 5 posts a week is because they need not be content-filled posts that are editorial length. Similar to what many blogs such as Joystiq, Engadget, or even Anime Banzai does, all five of those posts can be news posts that simply summarize the main details of the story.

Perhaps I am asking for too much? I shall lower it to two.

  8. Short-form commentary on news and happenings is something I could write so I guess I’ll throw my hat in the ring. I’m not that comfortable writing about games and Japan on my own blog as I’m trying to maintain a specific focus, but I’d do it on a wider-aspect blog.

That sounds great, I could write about games, music, film, technology, politics- no worries.
I need to get more into my anime though… sorry!

How serious do we need to be? Can we have fun with it or are you looking for a bit more of a straight faced reviewer? Either way I could handle, I just know which would be more fun.

  10. MDTB

Oooh, forgot to say… I’ll send you something soon, just read that as I was going to sleep.

  11. @MDTB: Uhh… please use the contact form as soon as possible. I saw your account and I assumed it was a spam bot so I changed the password and email. Please email us and we can talk about it; please tell me what you would like your password to be and your email again! Sorry!

  12. Changed. Erm, if you can, could you send us your email or some other form of contact if you’re interested in writing? AIM, Windows Live, Yahoo, GTalk; anything.
