Here’s another metareview, this time delving into true tears 11. Also check our previous metareview on Clannad 21.

“I guess PAWorks figured that a harem/romance show completely devoid of fanservice is blasphemous or something” (3).
Summary:
“Hiromi’s been having fun living in her own apartment for the last week and using her feet to dress herself” (1). “Having not run into Noe recently, Shinichirou instead visits Hiromi’s new apartment, and the two talk about an upcoming basketball game against the Hotarugawa girls team” (2). “Hiromi randomly notes she loves the sight of snow at the beach and suggests they go there now, running out before Shin has a chance to reply” (3). “Catching up with her, she plants a kiss directly to Shinichiro’s mouth” (4).
“Meanwhile, Nobuse gets a call from Ai-chan as he wanders the streets, all ronery and sad” (3). “Aiko … asks if he wants a high-spirited female friend” (2). “The next day, the girls basketball team of Mugiha High are having a match with their Hotarugawa counterparts, and Hiromi is quite visibly pushed around by her opponents, until Jun walks in and stops them, to the wrath of the referee” (4). “Seeing this, Shin, who had been watching the game, leaves the gym” (3). “Shinichirou goes to the chicken coop to see that Noe’s not there” (5).
“Unfortunately, even these heroics are not enough to keep Hiromi from re-dumping Jun” (1). “Later at the park, she meets up with Jun and tries to break up with him again” (5). “Jun then reminds her that their agreement isn’t over yet” (2). “Jun continues to refuse but Hiromi retorts back that the one Jun truly likes isn’t her but someone else and he doesn’t care about anyone else but her, and Hiromi leaves after that” (4). “That night however, Hiromi gets a phone call from Jun who is panicking because Noe never came home” (2). “Hiromi contacts Shin, who was just thinking about Noe and wanting to show her his picture book, he doesn’t hesitate in running out to find her” (3).
“Noe is at the chicken coop, in soliloquy, and she asks Jibeta to make her fly. Shin manages to find her at last at the edge of the artificial pier” (4).

“They made his kiss with Hiromi not such a big deal and he didn’t seem really happy either” (5).
Thoughts:
“Uh oh, the part I’m most worried about now is Hiromi’s vengeful glare after informing Shin about Noe’s disappearance” (6). “I wonder if she’s going to eventually lash out” (2). “And really, after the last episode I may have said that Shinichiro and Hiromi are now officially a couple, but this episode yet again gave both of them an equal change” (7). “There could still be a ShinichirouxNoe ending since Shinichirou couldn’t stop thinking about her” (5). “Shin has definitely realized Noe’s feelings over the past 2-3 episodes, and it has changed the balance of feelings in his heart, even if it’s still weighed in Hiromi’s favour” (4).
“I almost suspect that Jun put the whole Hotarugawa girls’ team up to the scheme so that he could look cool saving Hiromi. Unfortunately, it didn’t work and his little sister is still single and crazy” (1). “I’m still not sure whether he loves Noe as a sister or more than that” (5).
“As for Noe…I can’t really put up much of a defense here. She’s lost it” (3). “Noe was not ready for a relationship (especially with a dating newbie) and she probably has avian flu now” (1). “But I have to commend Noe the most for being able to admit that Shinichirou is in love with Hiromi aloud and smile as she says it, despite how much it pains her” (5). “Of all the characters, she seems to have the most pure intentions, and although she can be weird and silly, she has far more insight than anyone else in the show” (8).
“As for Aiko and Nobuse…*facepalm* I can’t believe they’re getting back together. Forget them veiling it as friendship, that was a romantic reunion, no matter how you look at it. Damnit Ai-chan, I thought you were over and done with it, I respected you for that! Irregardless of the fact that Aiko may have developed genuine feelings for Nobuse, or is in the process of doing so, I can’t think of it as anything but a cop out” (3).
“Definitely, the next episode will be pretty important, and I’ll say that chances for any ending is still very much up in the air here” (4). “As things look now, the next episode will feature the big climax of True Tears, while episode 13 will be some kind of aftermath” (7). “I totally did not understand why Hiromi kissed Shin’ichiro … You’d think that she would say something meaningful to him at some point, uh, before randomly kissing him and then ignoring him for a few days” (9).

“By episode 13, she’s going to be dressing in all black and listening to bad music” (1).

This post was much more difficult than the Clannad post; I had fewer summaries and reviews to work with, and some of them were limited in their content. I ended up reusing the first five for the entire Summary segment and forcefully inserted a line or two from some of the others (in order to use more than one quote). I also could not find anyone that agreed with me on the Aiko x Nobuse issue except Anime Blog ga Arimasu, so I took a whole paragraph. I resorted to a forum post and a comment for more quotes, heh.
I took this idea from Joystiq’s Nega-reviews. I thought it was an interesting way to get some of the opinions and summaries of different bloggers in one place. AND I AM STILL HOPING AN NOE BEST END!
It looks like I posted my True Tears 11 a little late to be a part in this one..
Again, nice job at doing this post.
Are you going to do this kind of post every week?
And other animes too? (other than Clannad and True Tears)
What a cool idea! I look forward to more of these Frankenstein posts =D.
@Shin: ME TOO, ME TOO.
@Setsukyie: I was thinking about waiting another day (which would allow for yours and Shin’s to be in this post), but I had two hours and wanted to blog this morning… so yeah.
As for other anime, since I’m only watching three currently airing anime (Okawari, TT, and Clannad), probably not. I will do this every week as much as I can, but expect more of them as April comes when the majority of the new season shows air.
@Kabitzin: The final result isn’t what I expected; it’s much easier for other reviews I suppose or reviews that focus on negatives, such as Joystiq’s Nega-reviews. However, I’m still pleased with the feedback I’m getting and will continue it =]
just lol. just lol.
sweet stuff, lols.
