From Minimum Tempo…

Well, you’ll read the other reviews and possibly understand what I’m saying. Despite the fact that the final pairing was not what I wanted, the show left me very satisfied; I can almost say that this was the best ending it could have been. Overall, true tears was fantastic and definitely my favorite winter show (I only watched three, after all). A few characters nagged me (was Aiko really all that necessary?), but the final character development was great. Even though Shin’ichiro’s mother was a total bitch in the beginning, I grew to like her after the whole incident, as the show intended I suppose.

From Kita ze Inbou! - キタぜ陰謀

“true tears ended up being something totally different from what I expected in the beginning. Its characters, music, pacing, and writing all took me by surprise and screamed high quality from start to finish. If you’re looking for a great romance with characters that are believable and receive wonderful development, true tears is easily a must-see in that regard and others.”

From Novastorm

“In the end, I was quite content with the final developments of all the characters, so it didn’t really matter to me who Shin ended up with. Noe becomes rather normal, and Hiromi throws away her momentary bitchiness which is obvious in the previous episode. It’s also nice to see how Aiko’s relationship with Nobuse has improved drastically, now that they’re just ‘friends’. If anything, I would really love to see an aftermath episode, something that would depict the lives of Shin and Hiromi as a couple, or how things end up with Ai and Nobuse (it would be good if they ended up together). But that’s not anything to complain about. If you like romance, True Tears is a must-see.”

From Yukan Blog!

“Overall, I really enjoyed true tears but I minus the 0.5 from the 10 because the first episodes weren’t that great and because of Aiko’s red-face expression that didn’t suit with true tears.”

From Sea Slugs! Anime Blog

“This was a complicated episode with a lot going on, but I really enjoyed it. I felt enough loose ends were tied up in a way that gave the whole series a consistent theme about growing by working through tough situations. Hiromi especially exemplified this ideal, and she faced haters at every turn. However, Hiromi was able to face her feelings and do the right thing time and time again. By the end, her consistent efforts netted her Shinichiro and also the ability to do a full split.

“I like that the story highlighted that flying isn’t about getting on a tall cliff and jumping, it is about persistence. All series long Noe was running away from her sadness, and that made her determined limp to the hospital that much more powerful. I’m glad she was able to gain friends and a life on her own, without Shinichiro or Jun there to help her.”

From Atarashii Prelude

“The confession scene left a lot to be desired, and apart from Hiromi fans, I can’t imagine anyone actually enjoying it. Even Noe’s false good end had more fanfare than this, which was relatively calm and silent for something which was meant to serve as a closure. That, or I’m still reeling over the fact that it could have been someone else. The epilogue didn’t really provide any new insights other than just being the usual time passes by life goes on means of making the story move forward.”

From Anime Blog ga Arimasu

“All in all, True Tears was a great ride. Definitely my favourite series of the winter season, no other show had me writhing in anticipation for the next episode to come. It ended with a whimper rather than the anticipated bang, but despite the delivery being weak, it was a fitting conclusion.”

From Star Crossed Anime Blog

“Love triangles and myself don’t have the best relationship. They’re often predictable, usually get nowhere and really like to distract from the main point of a series. True Tears shows that things can be done differently, though. This series has really been built around a love-triangle, and somehow, it’s managed to avoid the pitfalls that has caused the demise of so many series.

“The key is good scriptwriting. The series is originally based upon a visual novel, though the creators made the smart decision to just ignore the storyline and come up with their own. True Tears is a slow series, but because it’s slow, it’s able to really dive into the minds of its characters. The result delivers, because the characters in this series are deep.”

From Random Curiosity

“While it’s easy to call true tears a great series now that it’s complete (and I do think that it is), it wasn’t always that way, especially in the beginning. If not for the third episode completely changing my mind about it, I almost dropped this show because nothing in the story really stood out to me in the first two episodes. But from that third episode on, the writers did a masterful job of weaving in the plot twists at key moments - mostly at the end of episodes to guarantee that we’d eagerly anticipate the following week. And as a friend pointed out to me, true tears proves that it’s possible to do a romance series with multiple girls without the need for supernatural occurrences or murderous intent. On the other hand, the one thing I have been impressed about from the very beginning though is how consistently good the animation quality has been and how incredible the soundtrack is. I’ve had the soundtrack on my playlist for the past month (unheard of for me), and it’s going to be hard for another series to top it by the time I consider the bests of the year. In any case, this production quality combines with the great writing to make a series that has been a joy to watch, and true tears ends up as probably my favorite of the shows that aired this past winter season.”

I was so gutted as a Noe fan when I saw this episode unfolding. But like you said the show was satisfying and I found the ending fitted really well.

I liked Aiko for the kinda other view. The show gave us a good slice of different relationships. Best show of this genre i’ve seen in a couple of seasons.

    gg Hiromi

Although I hated how it ended, I must admit it was done much better than Myself; Yourself, which was incidentally my favorite show in the previous season.

    Noe > Hiromi forever

Go Hiromi (actually I like the other girl too, not Noe, the other one, yeah, that one). The soundtrack? Ungh, it’s almost as melodramatic as the orchestral masturbatory sweeping done in the movie adaptation to The Great Gatsby. I don’t really think it was ‘fitting’ since it was always distracting me (but that’s probably just me).

One thing I really liked about True Tears was how Shinichiro was an artist, but he didn’t have to shave his balls all over us, not Kamina Ayato style at least.

@Lelangir: Get the hell out of here. I have no use for a visitor that doesn’t place Noe above Aiko and Hiromi.
