… gay? I have nothing against homosexuality or anything, so don’t take this post in the wrong way. I don’t mean to intentionally offend anyone. But why are the flashbacks Lelouch (and Rolo) has of them together imply such odd closeness. I have never personally known any brothers that are THAT close. Perhaps it’s simply our culture or a different lifestyle, but it just seems weird to me.
Here we have Lelouch giving Rolo a present.
Here’s an acceptable sibling interaction. The giving of a present to one on his or her birthday. Perfectly fine.
But the gift inside is a bit odd. Shouldn’t a man want something that openly declares his manliness?

Lols. The locket was the one he gave to Nunnally. That’s why Lulu wanted it back, since Rollo shouldn’t have it.
Also all the flashbacks were implanted memories from the Emperor. He’s the sick guy here! D::
And uh, I have no defence for why Rollo likes the locket. =D
Well, I know he gave it to her originally, but why did Emperor implant the memory with a locket? Why didn’t the Emperor implant Lelouch with a memory of him giving Rolo something more fitting?
I chose to ignore it… it is better for my health…
I’d guess it’s because Code Geass carefully panders to everyone in its audience, and part of its audience is made up of yaoi fangirls.
OGT posted an entry on this subject at Anime wa Bakuhatsu da! and suggested that because the memories are all fake Taniguchi is actually poking fun at the ‘icky brotherly love’, or something.

It’s the CLAMP factor. CLAMP is involved so they have to give them the opportunity to do these types of scenes so that the CLAMP faction can get it’s fill.
Those are ROLO’s memories, not Lelouch’s, which is why we see Rolo having his Shinji-meeting-Kaworu-and-doubting-his-sexuality moment…

i think it’s pretty obvious why they would seen so close. To Lelouch he was treating Rolo just as he would Nunally because of his altered memories. And we all know how much he loved Nunally (enough to lie, KILL, and bring down the goverment ~_~).
As for Rolo, he has seen isloated and used as a tool since he was young, so this type of relatioship is the closest he has actually had to real affection. It’s reasonaable to think that he cherishes it.

Most of all anime has yaoi scenes and its something that makes fans
like more about the anime.
So Codegeass director is a smart one doing every love scene for
boys (C.C X Lelouch / Karen X Lelouch / Sharley X Lelouch)
and also for
girls (Rollo X Lelouch).
