… gay? I have nothing against homosexuality or anything, so don’t take this post in the wrong way. I don’t mean to intentionally offend anyone. But why are the flashbacks Lelouch (and Rolo) has of them together imply such odd closeness. I have never personally known any brothers that are THAT close. Perhaps it’s simply our culture or a different lifestyle, but it just seems weird to me.

Here’s an acceptable sibling interaction. The giving of a present to one on his or her birthday. Perfectly fine.

i think it’s pretty obvious why they would seen so close. To Lelouch he was treating Rolo just as he would Nunally because of his altered memories. And we all know how much he loved Nunally (enough to lie, KILL, and bring down the goverment ~_~).
As for Rolo, he has seen isloated and used as a tool since he was young, so this type of relatioship is the closest he has actually had to real affection. It’s reasonaable to think that he cherishes it.

This is kinda old, but Lelouch, somewhere in there remembered his sister. I mean…she’s still in the back of head…or somewhere in his ‘heart’ as most people would say. I mean…he knows that his brother, but he is treating Rolo like his sister, unconsciously. Being a huge siscon, Lelouch is going to be pretty gentle with Rolo as though he was her little sister.
Also, Lelouch sucks at anything physical so he’s not able to rough up his sister so he’s extra gentle.
This is also to appeal to the female fanabse of Code Geass.
Erm… Wow… The more I read about Code Geass, the more interested I become. But I guess I should expect nothing less from the authors of X/1999 and Tokyo Babylon ^^ I’m still watching season 1 and I have to say that it’s really well done.
I have nothing against affectionate brotherly love – in fact, I dream about it :3 (too bad I’m an only child…). However, I don’t think a kitchen is ‘a place where a woman belongs’. Many splendid cooks are male and it isn’t very unussual for men to cook together.

If I remember well, Lelouch and Rollo actually lived a year together and some of this memories really happened, so when Lelouch tries to convince Rollo to be his ally he used this to brainwash him! And Rollo falls of course…
The pendant represents for Rollo a love he have never had, to be something for someone who really cares for him, that’s why I think Rollo cherises the most for this pendant… and to be honest I really love their relationship ^^ it’s some of spice in the serie!

I agreed that the locket is something Lelouch intended to give to Nunnally. The flashback memory is the real memory of Lelouch and Rolo spending together almost a year as real bothers (when lelouch’s memory was rewritten and believe Rolo is his only brother).
For Rolo, he was raised up as an assassin. He has no memory of his family. For him, killing is a common daily activity just like having meals or brushing teech. The time he spent with Lelouch soften his heart (on the top of that, he’s still a kid who never know what is love and never experience this kind of relationship). He’s just like a child when get first toy, want to monopolize it and dont know how to share. I can imagine why the locket he received from Lelouch is the most precious item he could ever have (for someone who do not even know his own birthday). Rolo was the only one who stays by Lelouch’s side when he lost everything. Rolo was awared of that Lelouch might have been using him as a tool but sticking into the 1-year-memory, he denied to believe that his brother was trying to kill him repeatedly and hate him. He, on his own free will, chose to do anything to save Lelouch from his pinch, including repeatedly use his geass , even it took his life. Until his very last moment, he called Lelouch “Brother”. His love for Lelouch is pure, isn’t it?
Rolo’s existence is unique and shows love from other point of view. It does make this show rich in contents.
But, yeah…, why can’t they be playing sports or something? You should expect as much from clamp’s artworks. (Clamp only do artworks and character design for Code geass but Clamp also give some ideas to the production staff, so you can expect as much of these scenes.)

I think there is nothing gay in Rolo and Leuloch’s memories, just like some people said he is treathing Rolo like he was Nunnally, That’s why it seems gay, and Rolo likes of of the locket because that was the very first present he received in his entire life. From someone who acctually cares about him. For god sake, the guy never had a family and now he won a brother that should not be hard to understand. If you where a kid and your only purpose in life is kill , and you were all alone, if you receive anything you would not like to have someone asking that thing back, just because it don’t suit you as a man.
